Illusions - Ballet is a distinctive dance production choreographed by John Neumeier, premiered in 1976 for the Hamburg Ballet. The work fuses classical Petipa/Ivanov elements with Neumeier's dramatic storytelling, centering on Ludwig II and the tension between reality and illusion. The score draws from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, with Neumeier reconstructing the music and weaving Lev Ivanov-era material into Act II to deepen the emotional landscape.
