The Improvisation Festival is a dynamic, globally engaged performer collective dedicated to exploring improvisational art across cultures and disciplines. Founded in 2020 by Dr. Ajay Heble and presented by the International Institute for the Creative Studies Initiative (IICSI), the festival has featured 400+ artists from 25+ countries. The festival operates in a hybrid format, delivering in-person performances at ImprovLab on the University of Guelph campus and global online streaming, ensuring accessibility for audiences worldwide. Upcoming IF 2025 dates are November 28–29, 2025, at ImprovLab, University of Guelph. The festival is free and open to all, with archival streaming available for those who cannot attend in person. In-person programming is curated with local partners Wet Sounds, Audiopollination, and coexisDance, and there are plans for a 2026 expansion, including travel to Belfast.
