In The Black is a dynamic force in groove-thrash metal, built from the long-running, all-female metal roots of Kittie. Formed in 1996 in London, Ontario, Kittie became a defining act in metal with breakthrough albums like Spit (1999), which would later earn RIAA Gold status. In The Black (2009) marked a bold pivot, introducing Ivy Jenkins on bass and strengthening their heavy, groove-driven sound. The 2024 release Fire signaled a high-profile comeback, charting in the UK and US and spawning the single "We Are Shadows," which reached #20 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. 2025 brings a European/UK headline tour with festival appearances and continued momentum from Juno nominations for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year.
