INALA is a groundbreaking performance that blends the heart of South Africa’s isicathamiya choral tradition with Western ballet and contemporary dance. Co-created by Ella Spira of Sisters Grimm and the late Joseph Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, with choreography by Mark Baldwin OBE, INALA is more than a show—it’s a cultural conversation. Since its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2014, INALA has graced renowned venues like the Royal Albert Hall, Marina Bay Sands, Hampton Court Palace, and the Peacock Theatre. The production features live performances with Ladysmith Black Mambazo and has sparked global conversations about heritage, collaboration, and the power of performance to educate as well as entertain.
