They broke through with The Download EP in 2007 and followed with the self-titled debut album in 2008, released through Island and Stolen Transmission. The band’s breakout singles Don't Stop and Die Tonight Live Forever put them on the national and international radar, with Don't Stop climbing the US Alternative charts and reaching the UK charts. The track Heart of Fire later found a place in the Burnout Paradise soundtrack, expanding their reach beyond the concert hall.

In 2010, Innerpartysystem signed with Red Bull Records and issued the Never Be Content EP in early 2011.
