International Jazz Day is a global celebration initiated by UNESCO in 2011 to promote jazz as a force for peace, dialogue, and education. The day brings together musicians, educators, and fans from around the world to share the music, stories, and learning that make jazz a living, evolving art form. Chaired by UNESCO Director-General and supported by Herbie Hancock, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, the event is organized with the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz and partners worldwide. On the horizon, 2025 showcased a five-week host of performances and education programs in Abu Dhabi, culminating in the All-Star Global Concert on April 30 at Etihad Arena. In 2026, Chicago will host the 15th anniversary celebration. Explore the performer page for International Jazz Day to learn more about its significance, impact, and how to participate.
