Interstellar Overdrive is a landmark instrumental track originally released by Pink Floyd on The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Widely regarded as a milestone in psychedelic and experimental rock, the track helped define space-rock and proto-progressive sounds that influenced countless artists. While the name Interstellar Overdrive is most closely associated with the Pink Floyd track, it’s also the name used by a separate Greek band active from 1998 to 2010, which released its own material distinct from the original. This page focuses on the historical impact of the Pink Floyd piece, its covers, and the broader influence on immersive, improvisational guitar-driven music.
