Founded in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the Iowa Central Triton Wrestling program is one of the most storied programs in NJCAA history. Under long-time coach Luke Moffitt, the Tritons have secured six NJCAA national championships and consistently field competitive teams across both men’s and women’s divisions. The program combines rigorous competition with a strong camp presence, helping to grow the sport across the state and beyond.

In the 2024-25 season, the Tritons have been actively competing at top events like the Grand View Open in Des Moines and NJCAA dual meets nationwide. A notable milestone came in January 2025, when the women’s team captured the NJCAA Women’s Coaches Duals title in Potea u, Oklahoma, defeating Iowa Western 32-20 in the finals. On the men’s side, Iowa Central went 5-0 on day 1 of the NJCAA National Coaches Duals in Miami, Oklahoma, on January 11, 2025. These results reflect a program that remains at the forefront of NJCAA wrestling while investing in long-term development and community engagement.

Fans can look forward to a home dual against Iowa Lakes on February 5, 2025. The Tritons’ legacy is built on competitive success, strong coaching leadership, and outreach efforts like the Iron Sharpens Iron Wrestling Camp hosted on campus in 2024, which drew thousands of aspiring wrestlers to learn from elite competitors.

Beyond the mats, the Iowa Central wrestling family includes Hall of Fame recognition for head coach Luke Moffitt, who was inducted into the NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March 2025.
