Iron & Coal is a transformative performer-project led by a creative team that pushes the boundaries of contemporary music theater. Born from the concept album released in 2011 and subsequently developed into large-scale, multimedia productions, the work investigates intergenerational trauma, survival, and legacy through the lens of Hugo Gustav Schonfeld’s memoir Absence of Closure. The piece has seen world premiere staging with Strathmore (Beth Morrison Projects) in 2018 and a New York City premiere at the Prototype Festival in January 2020, featuring Contemporaneous, MasterVoices, and a constellation of choirs and orchestras. As of early 2026, there are no publicly announced 2025 Iron & Coal tour dates, but the project remains listed as touring-ready through Beth Morrison Projects with prior festival and promotional activity documented by multiple partners. This page invites you to explore the artist’s biography, key discography moments, and the evolving tour status as a thoughtful, accessible resource for fans and venue partners alike.
