Isabelle Faust is one of the leading violinists of her generation, renowned for her distinguished blend of modern instrument mastery and period-instrument sensibilities. Born in Esslingen in 1972, Faust rose to prominence after winning major competitions early in her career, including the Leopold Mozart International Competition in Augsburg (1987) and the Paganini Competition in Genoa (1993). Her artistry spans Bach and Beethoven as core repertories, and she’s celebrated for engaging with contemporary works as well. Faust has been entrusted with the Sleeping Beauty Stradivarius on loan since 1996, a testament to her status as a masterful interpreter of voice-like tone and technical nuance.
