Ismail Hakki Demircioglu is a renowned Turkish vocalist whose work sits at the crossroads of traditional Turkish folk and maqam-inflected singing, enriched by innovative textures from his long-time collaboration with fretless guitarist Erkan Oğur. Born in 1957 in Rize, on Turkey’s Black Sea coast, Demircioglu grew up steeped in regional musical traditions and pursued formal study at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory. His career spans decades of intimate performances and recording projects that honor the past while exploring new sonic landscapes.
