Jazz Sinfonico is a pioneering Brazilian ensemble that blends orchestral textures with the energy of a jazz big band. Founded in 1989 by Arrigo Barnabé and Eduardo Gudin, the project has grown into a leading example of "symphonic jazz"—an expansive sound that embraces Brazilian popular music (MPB), samba, and bossa nova through sophisticated orchestral arrangements. Managed by Fundação Padre Anchieta/TV Cultura since around 2019, Jazz Sinfonico has become a staple in cultural initiatives and archives, bringing rich Brazilian musical storytelling to stages and screens alike.
