Jean-Christophe Maillot, born August 31, 1960 in Tours, France, is one of the most influential figures in modern ballet. Since taking the helm as Choreographer-Director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in September 1993, he has shaped a distinctive repertoire that blends classical technique with contemporary storytelling. A laureate of the Prix de Lausanne (1977) and a Knight (1992) and Commander (2015) of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Maillot’s impact on European ballet is widely recognized.
