John Paul Jones is a foundational figure in rock, best known as the longtime bassist and keyboardist for Led Zeppelin and a versatile solo artist. Born January 3, 1946 in Sidcup, England, Jones has shaped rock, experimental music, and film scores with a steady, creative approach. He’s a Rock Hall of Fame inductee (1995) with a prolific solo career that includes albums like Zooma (1999) and The Thunderthief (2001), as well as collaborations and soundtrack work such as Scream for Help (1985) and The Sporting Life (1994) with Diamanda Galás. Jones has been recognized with major industry honors, including the Gold Badge Award (2010) from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors and the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour Outstanding Contribution Award (2010).
