Founded in 1983 by Maria Kempinska and John Davy in Battersea, London, Jongleurs Comedy Club quickly became a launchpad for UK stand-up stars. By 2000, the chain reached around eight venues and was acquired by Regent Inns. After administrative changes and a rebrand to Highlight in 2010, the Jongleurs brand resurfaced under new leadership during the pandemic, with Kev Orkian acquiring the brand in 2020. Today, Jongleurs continues to deliver touring nights and live comedy across the UK. Maria Kempinska was honored with an MBE in 2009 for services to entertainment and hospitality — a testament to her lasting impact on the industry.
