Joshua Kobak is a performer and innovator whose career began on the Broadway stage. Over a span of years he embodied a wide range of characters and styles, bringing energy to roles in iconic productions such as Rent, Tarzan, Green Day's American Idiot, and Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. His breadth as a performer is matched by his curiosity about how sound shapes storytelling. This led him to establish Liilaa Records Studio in New York City, where he serves as owner and lead audio engineer, and to co-found Vrialto LLC, a venture focused on immersive audio technologies that enhance listener immersion and artist control.
Beyond the stage, Kobak’s discography reveals a musician who collaborates across genres. The project Above and Beneath (2001) with Swim showcased collaborative artistry, followed by Sound & Light (2009) under the name Your Uncle Josh. He released When You're Big (2013) as a single, and Oh The Effen Places You'll Effen Go (2019) again under Your Uncle Josh, highlighting his playful approach to voice, storytelling, and music production.
Today, Joshua’s primary focus is the studio—developing immersive audio projects, producing records, and exploring new ways to connect performers with audiences. He remains an active educator and collaborator, sharing insights from the worlds of Broadway and tech-driven audio.
