J.T. Taylor is a celebrated soul and funk vocalist best known as the lead singer of Kool & the Gang from 1979 through 1988. He helped drive the band's signature sound that defined an era of R&B and funk, and in 2024 he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside Kool & the Gang. In addition to his work with the group, Taylor has a rich solo catalog spanning the late 1980s into the 2000s, featuring collaborations and charting hits that remain staples of classic R&B.
