Kapono, born Henry Kapono Kaʻaihue, is a cornerstone of Hawaiʻi’s musical landscape. Rising to fame in the 1970s as one half of Cecilio & Kapono (C&K), he helped put Hawaiʻi on the global music map as one of the first Hawaiʻi groups signed to a major label (Columbia). Today, Kapono is known for a soulful blend of rock, pop, blues, and contemporary Hawaiian styles—an authentic island rock voice with versatile guitar work and a warm, powerful vocal delivery. He’s also a committed educator and philanthropist, founder of the Henry Kapono Foundation (HKF), supporting Hawaiʻi’s music community through programs, grants, and mentorship since 2018. Here you’ll find a detailed biography, key discography highlights, and up-to-date information on Kapono’s upcoming tour activity across Hawaiʻi and the U.S. mainland.
