Kristine Opolais is a Latvian-born soprano whose powerful acting and vocal intensity have made her one of the most respected figures in contemporary opera. Trained at the Latvian Academy of Music, she rose to international prominence with debuts at the Berlin State Opera in 2006, La Scala in 2008, and the Vienna State Opera in 2008. Opolais is widely celebrated for her interpretations of Puccini heroines—Tosca and Madama Butterfly—as well as compelling performances in Rusalka and other celebrated roles. In 2016, she was awarded Latvia’s Order of the Three Stars, reflecting her contributions to the arts on a national and global scale.
