Biography
Kronborg – The Hamlet Rock Musical is a rock opera adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet. The piece began life as Kronborg: 1582, premiering in Charlottetown in 1974, and subsequently found Broadway momentum as Rockabye Hamlet in 1975–76. In 2019, the Charlottetown Festival (Confederation Centre of the Arts) revived the production as Kronborg—The Hamlet Rock Musical, featuring a large company (28 performers) and a full 14‑member orchestra, underscoring its grand, arena‑level rock experience. In mid‑2019, Confederation Centre secured world tour rights with David Carver Music, with plans announced in 2020 to bring Kronborg to Canada, Australia, the UK, and the US. The show’s musical language blends high‑energy vocal performances with lush orchestral rock arrangements, drawing audiences into a reinterpretation of a Shakespearean classic with modern theatrical intensity.
As of early 2025, no confirmed 2025 tour dates or venues have been announced. Fans can stay tuned for official announcements and secure seats as soon as touring information becomes available.
