The Lafayette Quartet, formed in 1986 in Detroit, stands as a cornerstone of North American chamber music. Four original members carried the ensemble through a remarkable 37-year journey before retirement, contributing richly to the Canadian classical scene and beyond. Since 1991, they have served as Artists-in-Residence at the University of Victoria (UVic), where they helped shape a landmark era in Canadian chamber music. Their legacy is preserved in archival materials and ongoing scholarly appreciation, even as the group pursued new generations of listeners through live performances and studio recordings.
