Born in 1979 in Venado Tuerto, Argentina, he moved to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2003. Genovese has earned recognition as a fearless collaborator and a forward-thinking leader, with a distinctive voice on the piano and a deep improvisational vocabulary that spans jazz, contemporary classical, and experimental music.

His work blends intimate lyrical phrasing with fearless exploration, earning him a Grammy Award for Best Improvised Jazz Solo as an accompanist on Wayne Shorter’s Endangered Species, Live at the Detroit Jazz Festival (2023). He was also honored with a DownBeat Critics Award for Rising Star — Piano in 2023, underscoring his status as a rising force in modern jazz.

Beyond his solo projects, Genovese has collaborated extensively with renowned artists such as Esperanza Spalding, The Mars Volta, and Wayne Shorter. He is a core figure in the experimental wing of 577 Records, contributing to a range of leader projects and collaborative albums. His recent leader releases on 577 Records include Forward (2024), Shine Hear Vol. 1 (2023) and Vol. 2 (2024), Ritual (2022), Ritmos De Agua (2021), and Solo Brooklyn (2026). In 2025, he announced a live duo with Franz Hackl in New York, set for April 22, 2025, at Kostabi World.
