Biography

Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo (often shortened to Trockadero) was founded in 1974 in New York City by Peter Anastos, Anthony Bassae, and Natch Taylor. The company’s mission is to celebrate ballet by pairing classical discipline with satire, performing all roles by male dancers in drag while maintaining rigorous technique. Over the decades, Trockadero has become a pioneering force in contemporary ballet, blending humor with high artistry to engage new audiences while honoring traditional repertoire.

Style and Repertoire

Renowned for its gender-skewering, comedic interpretations, the company delivers iconic pieces such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and Paquita in pointe work that remains technically precise. The performances are as much about flawless technique as they are about character-driven parody, making each show a celebration of both tradition and innovation.
