Les Luthiers is a legendary Argentine performing group founded in 1967 in Buenos Aires by Gerardo Masana. Over the decades, the ensemble became renowned for crafting informal instruments from everyday objects and delivering sharp, humorous parodies of Baroque, tango, boleros, and other musical genres. Core members over the years have included Marcos Mundstock, Jorge Maronna, Daniel Rabinovich, Carlos Núñez Cortés, and Carlos López Puccio. The ensemble earned international acclaim with honors like the Latin Grammy Special Award for Musical Excellence (2011) and the Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities (2017). The group announced a definitive farewell in January 2023, and their last on-stage performance occurred on December 9, 2023 in Bahía Blanca, marking the end of an era. While there is no 2025 touring planned, Les Luthiers’ legacy continues to influence generations of performers and fans.
