The Lookout Comedy Competition is the flagship platform of the Lookout Comedy Festival, a nonprofit organization delivering Chattanooga’s most dynamic multi-venue comedy experience. Founded in 2018 by Donnie Marsh, this competition has grown into a community-driven honor that spotlights emerging and established comedians across the city. Each year, the festival expands to multiple downtown venues, turning Chattanooga into a hub for stand-up lovers from across the region. Lookout’s footprint includes The Comedy Catch, JJ’s Bohemia, Wanderlinger, Granfalloon, and other downtown venues as the festival unfolds through autumn.

Winners gain meaningful opportunities at Lookout venues beyond the festival, with a path that often leads to featured stages in 2026 and beyond. The 2025 Lookout Comedy Competition ran May 21–25 at The Comedy Catch as the main venue, with Locals Qualifier, First Round/Prelims, Semifinals, and Finals. The prize structure awarded the best available price to 1st place, the best available price to 2nd, and the best available price to 3rd, with winners earning a featured spot in the 2026 Lookout Comedy Festival. Lookout is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, underscoring the organization’s mission to nurture local talent and bring high-quality comedy to Chattanooga and beyond.
