The Loyd Dobler Effect (LDE) is an indie rock act born in 1995 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Founded by Phil Kominski and Scott Shaw, the band drew its name from John Cusack's character in Say Anything, a nod to its earnest, melodic rock spirit. Though they disbanded in 2019, LDE’s legacy continues through fans and related projects, most notably The Breakaways led by Kominski. LDE’s discography captures a late-90s to 2010s sound with memorable records like Candles (2008) and Rock N' Roll Gangstas (2014). In 2020, the collection Phil Kominski: Songs I Wrote and Recorded with Lloyd Dobler Effect, Remixed, Remastered and Unreleased highlighted the band’s enduring influence. While 2025 tour dates for Loyd Dobler Effect aren’t listed, interested listeners can follow related projects for ongoing updates and live performances.
