Margaret Batjer has established herself as a leading violinist and influential figure in American classical music. Serving as the concertmaster of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) since 1998, she also directs chamber music for LACO, shaping performances that highlight intimate, virtuosic programming. Batjer is a respected educator, directing the Colburn School’s Music Academy and contributing as violin faculty at Colburn, following a tenure at USC Thornton School of Music. In 2020, she co-founded the Los Angeles Piano Trio with Fabio Bidini and Andrew Shulman, expanding her impact across orchestral and chamber repertoires. Batjer’s discography spans major labels and collaborations, reflecting a diverse engagement with Bach, Pärt, Vasks, Mozart, and contemporary violin repertoire.
