Mat Bastard, born Mathieu-Emmanuel Monnaert on November 7, 1979 in Belgium, is a French singer and producer known for his high-energy performances and songwriting that blends rock with electronic and pop textures. As the frontman of Skip the Use, he helped shape a modern French rock sound between 2008 and 2016, with a reunion from 2018 onward. A Victoires de la Musique winner in 2013 for Best Rock Album (Can Be Late), Bastard later launched a solo career starting with his 2017 debut Loov (Polydor/Universal). His solo work includes collaborations like More Than Friends (feat. A-Vox, 2017) and Hallelujah (with Waxx, 2024). In 2025, he continues to perform live, including a December solo show at Studios RTL2 in Neuilly-sur-Seine with Waxx.
