Matthew Lux's Communication Arts Quartet (CAQ) is a standout force in modern jazz and experimental music, described as essential new music by JazzTimes and praised by Magnet Magazine. Rooted in Chicago, CAQ blends jazz, electronics, and world-music textures into a hypnotic, space-forward sound. The quartet features Matthew Lux on bass and electronics, Ben LaMar Gay on cornet and electronics, Jayve Montgomery on tenor sax, flute, and samples, and Mikel Patrick Avery on drums and mellotron. Their debut album Contra/Fact began as a cassette in 2017 on Astral Spirits and was re-edited for vinyl and digital release in 2018 (Astral Spirits / Monofonus Press). CAQ continues to push boundaries with live performances, studio experimentation, and cross-genre collaborations. We’ve got you covered for reliable ticket access and up-to-date show information.
