The May Festival Chorus is the official chorus of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops, rooted in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1873, it stands as a historic choral ensemble in the Western Hemisphere. Comprised of about 120–135 avocational singers from the Cincinnati region, the chorus welcomes singers without dues, reflecting a community-driven spirit and a commitment to musical excellence. The May Festival Chorus has a storied discography that showcases its versatility and reach beyond live performances. Highlights include Christmas with the May Festival Chorus (2001), Liszt: St. Stanislaus (2004, Telarc), The Ordering of Moses (2016, Bridge), Home for the Holidays (2012, Cincinnati Pops), and a 2017 re-release of the Christmas album. The ensemble continues to collaborate with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops, under the direction of renowned conductors and festival leadership. For 2025, Renée Fleming serves as Festival Director with conductors such as Juanjo Mena, Ramon Tebar, Robert Moody, and Chorus Director Matthew Swanson guiding performances.
