Educational foundation and early achievements shaped Kufchak into a standout violist. She earned a B.M. in viola performance from Rice University and an M.M. in Chamber Music Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her career includes a season with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and performances with the San Francisco Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, New Century Chamber Orchestra, and Fresno Philharmonic as principal viola. In 2010, she received the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, recognizing her early promise and artistry.
Looking ahead, Kufchak is associated with exciting recording projects and live performances. A 2025 recording with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, featuring Leshnoff’s Chamber Concerto for Violin and Orchestra and Four Scenes from Childhood for Viola and Orchestra, is slated for release in 2027.
