He works across improvised music, free jazz, contemporary composition, puppet theatre, and cross-disciplinary performances, continually expanding the boundaries of sound and theater.

With a career spanning four decades, Zerang has taught and curated performance programs in Chicago, helping to mentor generations of artists while contributing to the city’s vibrant venues and festivals. He has received three Joseph Jefferson Awards for Original Music Composition in Theater with Redmoon Theater, reflecting his significant impact on the performing arts community.
