Mike Watt is a cornerstone of modern underground rock, renowned for his inventive bass work, prolific collaborations, and tireless touring. A co-founder of the influential Minutemen (1980–1985), Watt helped shape the jammy, economical ethos known as "jamming econo" and blended hardcore, jazz, and funk in bold new ways. His solo career launched with Ball-Hog or Tugboat? (1995) and continued through Contemplating the Engine Room (1997), The Secondman’s Middle Stand (2004), and Hyphenated-man (2010/2011). Watt has led and played with numerous groups, including Dos, Banyan, Floored by Four, mssv, Jumpstarted Plowhards, The Hand to Man Band, Il Sogno del Marinaio, and Big Walnuts Yonder, among others.
