People behind the production
Miracle in Rwanda is the stage persona of Malaika Uwamahoro, a performer whose work centers on resilience, memory, and storytelling. Her powerful one-woman memoir about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda has captivated audiences on international stages, including an Off-Broadway run at Theatre Row’s The Lion Theatre in New York during spring 2019. The piece has also resonated with audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe and in Pittsburgh in 2021, continuing to invite viewers to reflect on history through intimate, personal performance. Malaika expands her narrative practice beyond theatre with creative work across poetry and performance. In 2024 she released Rhymes of Remembrance, a poetry album that weaves memory, healing, and craft.
