Missing Piece is a Chicago-based duo blending violin and cello into experimental, contemporary classical, and improvised music. Formed by Dan Galat and Kelly Quesada on the city’s south side, they operate at the edge of traditional classical forms, often described as part of Third Stream collaborations — where classical composition meets jazz and contemporary improvisation. With a robust history of commissioned works and performances across multiple cities, they’re known for intimate, boundary-pushing performances that invite listeners into a collaborative sonic space.

The duo has supported 28+ commissioned works and presented work throughout Chicago, New Orleans, Anchorage, Ohio, and Florida, and they've earned Illinois Arts Council grant support for 2025 projects.
