About the work: Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat major, K.493, was composed in 1786. Mozart completed the piece after being released from an obligation to write three quartets, reportedly commissioning the work for Hoffmeister. The quartet features violin, viola, cello, and piano, with three movements: Allegro, Larghetto, and Allegretto.
