The Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, established in 1841 and affectionately nicknamed Das Original seit 1841, is one of Austria’s most storied ensembles. Based in Salzburg, the orchestra has a rich tradition of engaging performances that celebrate the city’s musical heritage and the broader classical repertoire. In 2024, the baton passed to chief conductor Roberto González-Monjas, while former director Ivor Bolton continues as Ehrendirigent, guiding the ensemble with a blend of historical respect and contemporary vitality.
