My Name is Florence is a world premiere presented by Minnesota Opera's New Works Initiative, bringing to life the remarkable story of Florence Price, the first Black woman to have a symphony performed by a major American orchestra. With music by B.E. Boykin and a libretto by Harrison David Rivers, this contemporary opera tracks Price's life, legacy, and artistic triumphs. The production features a talented cast led by Flora Hawk as Florence Price, with Debora Nansteel as Granny and a vibrant ensemble including Arianna Rodriguez Lo-Lo, John Mburu, Kara Morgan Jane, Ángel Vargas, and Mario Antonio Marra. Performed in English with projected captions, the show runs approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
