National Institute of Flamenco Tickets

The National Institute of Flamenco (NIF) is a renowned nonprofit based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, dedicated to the performance, education, and community engagement of flamenco. Founded in 1982 by Eva Encinias as a 501(c)(3) organization, NIF has built a vibrant ecosystem that blends professional artistry with accessible learning. Through partnerships with the University of New Mexico (UNM) and its flamenco concentration programs, NIF supports artists, students, and communities with a range of initiatives—from stage performances to intimate workshops.

At the heart of NIF is Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, established in 1999 and in residence at UNM. Its diverse ensemble features notable artists such as Joaquín Encinias, Kayla Lyall, Carlos Menchaca, Elena Osuna, Vicente Griego, and other talented flamenco practitioners. This company embodies the blend of tradition and innovation that defines modern flamenco in the United States.

NIF also organizes Festival Flamenco Alburquerque (FFABQ), an annual festival that brings together performances, workshops, and community events. The 2025 FFABQ featured 19 performances across venues including the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Rodey Theater at UNM, UNM Chapel, and Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque, with 40+ workshops hosted at UNM. The festival continues to grow, with FFABQ 2026 scheduled for June 19–27, 2026.

In addition to performance, NIF emphasizes education through programs like the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts and Flamenco In Your Neighborhood, making flamenco accessible to diverse audiences. A 2022 National Dance Project (NDP) grant highlighted the organization's impact, with funding support also coming from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W.
