Neguinho da Beija-Flor is a Brazilian samba maestro whose voice became synonymous with the Rio de Janeiro carnaval experience. Born on June 29, 1949, in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil, he was named the official intérprete for Beija-Flor in 1976 and led the escola for five decades, helping shape its sound and charisma. His tenure coincided with Beija-Flor's rise to one of the most celebrated samba schools. In recent years, Neguinho has focused on solo and collaborative projects while continuing to electrify audiences worldwide. He remains active in music, with the 2025 release Empretecendo, a collaboration with Xande de Pilares, marking a continued, vibrant solo career.
