Orchestra Next is a premier training orchestra and the resident ensemble for the Eugene Ballet Company, based in Eugene, Oregon. Since 2012, the group has combined professional mentorship with student education to create a dynamic performing ensemble that supports the next generation of classical musicians. Founded by Brian McWhorter and Sarah Viens, Orchestra Next operates a hands-on mentorship model that pairs students with seasoned professionals, offering real-world experience across rehearsals, concerts, and collaborations.

The ensemble's debut recording, Kenji Bunch: The Snow Queen, was released by Innova Recordings in 2017, highlighting the group’s commitment to contemporary and classical repertoire. Over the years, Orchestra Next has collaborated with Cirque Musica, the World Indoor Track & Field Championships, the University of Oregon Opera, Eugene Concert Choir, Soromundi, and the UO Theatre Department, broadening their reach beyond traditional concert halls and into multidisciplinary performances.

Based in Eugene, Oregon, Orchestra Next continues to engage with the local arts community and touring partners, bringing high-level orchestral artistry to audiences while nurturing aspiring musicians through hands-on experience and professional mentorship.

Upcoming in 2025, Orchestra Next will perform a trio of notable productions at the Hult Center in Eugene: Carmen (February 22–23, 2025), The Toni’s (April 12, 2025), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (May 17–18, 2025). The organization also maintains a recurring presence with Nutcracker productions alongside the Eugene Ballet at the Hult Center, continuing into the 2025/26 season.
