Osvaldo Farres is a towering figure in Cuban popular music, best known worldwide for the bolero Quizás, Quizás, Quizás and the timeless tune Acércate Más. Born in Quemado de Güines, Cuba, Farres moved to Havana where he helped elevate Cuban music through Bar Melódico, a radio/TV platform that connected audiences with the island’s most beloved songs. He didn’t read or write music; melodies and lyrics came to him spontaneously, with others later transcribing his ideas into polished works. Farres earned recognition worldwide, with honors from SACEM and a US bicentennial diploma, cementing his status as a prominent Cuban cultural ambassador abroad.
