Hailing from Moscow, Pavel Kogan is a distinguished violinist and conductor with a rich musical lineage. Born in 1952 as the son of legendary violinist Leonid Kogan, his early training at the Moscow Conservatory set the stage for an impressive international career. Kogan is celebrated for his expansive Rachmaninoff cycle and a long tenure as music director and chief conductor of the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra from 1989 until 2022. Today, he continues to perform, record, and guest conduct around the world while maintaining a strong presence in the classical music scene of his native Russia and beyond.
