Biography

The Peak Experience Jazz Ensemble formed in 1995 around bassist and band leader Mike Peak. The lineup features Ron Kobayashi on piano, Kendall Kay on drums, Ann Patterson on sax and woodwinds, Rickey Woodard on tenor sax, and Andrea Miller on vocals. Each member brings a rich history of collaboration with jazz and pop icons, including Ray Charles, BB King, Lou Rawls, Gladys Knight, Michael Bublé, Diana Krall, Paul Anka, Barbara Morrison, Joe Pass, and Alan Broadbent. Ann Patterson has been recognized with the Los Angeles Jazz Society Jazz Educator Award, underscoring the group’s commitment to education and artistry. Mike Peak serves on advisory boards including the Vail Jazz Foundation, linking the ensemble to ongoing jazz education and community engagement.
