Peru Negro is a cornerstone of Afro-Peruvian music, rooted in the rich and rhythmic traditions of Peru’s coast. Since 1969, the group has elevated festejo, landó, and other Afro-Peruvian styles to international stages, earning recognition as Cultural Ambassadors of Black Peru by the Peruvian government. Led over the decades by Ronaldo Campos de la Colina and later his son, Rony Campos, Peru Negro has blended powerful vocal harmonies, intricate percussive patterns, and compelling choreography to share a deeply rooted cultural narrative with audiences worldwide.
