Philippe Lefebvre is a legendary figure in the world of classical organ music, celebrated for his precise technique, deep sense of French organ literature, and virtuosic improvisation. Born in Roubaix in January 1949, Lefebvre has held prominent positions as titular organist at Chartres Cathedral beginning in 1976 and at Notre-Dame de Paris from 1985 until 2019, receiving emeritus status in 2024. His career centers on performing and expanding the French organ repertoire, including composers such as Franck, Boëllmann, Duruflé, and Vierne, while also showcasing his improvisational mastery in concert settings.
