Phobia is a foundational force in American grindcore, formed in 1990 in Orange County, California. Known for blistering speed, relentless aggression, and left-wing themes, the band blends hardcore punk energy with extreme metal precision. Over the years, Phobia's discography has grown from Means of Existence (1998) to Lifeless God (2017), with a career-spanning lookback in the 2016 compilation Decades Of Blastphemy. In the 2020s, the band has continued releasing new material, including the singles Death To Leeches (2023) and The Rat King (2025). While live activity has been sporadic in recent years, Phobia continues to hold a strong legacy in underground metal circles and remains a must-see for fans of fast, uncompromising grindcore.
