Puebla: The Story of Cinco de Mayo is a vibrant, cross-cultural performance by Calpulli Mexican Dance Company. Conceived by Alberto Lopez Herrera, co-founder and director, this production honors Puebla, Mexico and Mexican-American heritage through a dynamic blend of folk and native dance paired with live music. Since its premiere in 2019 at Queens Theatre and the Basie Center for the Arts, the show has extended its reach with touring support from the NEFA National Dance Project, bringing the story to schools, communities, and public stages across the United States.
