Requiem pour L. is a dynamic performer whose work sits at the intersection of jazz, opera, and African musical traditions. Since the 2018 world premiere at the Berliner Festspiele, the project has travelled beyond Berlin, engaging audiences worldwide with a bold re-imagining of Mozart’s Requiem. The production, directed by Alain Platel with Fabrizio Cassol and les ballets C de la B, features musical direction by Rodriguez Vangama and a rotating company of performers including Boule Mpanya, Fredy Massamba, Russell Tshiebua, Nobulumko Mngxekeza, and Owen Metsileng. The performance blends live music, dance, and film, with a projection of a dying woman's image that gives the piece its emotional center.
