Richard Galliano, born December 12, 1950 in Cannes, France, is a pioneering accordionist renowned for redefining the instrument within jazz and beyond. Of Italian heritage, Galliano forged a distinctive voice by weaving Piazzolla-inspired tango, classical grafts (Bach, Nino Rota, Mozart), and contemporary jazz into a seamless, modern aesthetic often called the ‘new musette.’ His work has earned international recognition, including major awards and collaborations with leading labels.
